These five tips for choosing a great digital camera are collected from our team of photographers. Enjoy!
- Bells and whistles aren’t as important as digital camera quality.
- It is important to test a camera first to ensure it will take great photos.
- If you can’t test a camera before buying, read many customer reviews, consumer reports, and legitimate articles about the digital cameras you’re considering.
- Expensive doesn’t always mean better with digital cameras.
- Either go with a small or large camera. Usually people can easily want to, and remember to carry a portable / compact camera. Or for more serious photography, a larger camera is ideal. Mid size cameras these days may not deliver much more quality than a compact camera.

These 5 top tips should help you choose a great digital camera to buy.
- Try out cameras in stores whether you decide to buy online or in a store.
- The most expensive camera is not always the best. Get the camera that does what you need it to do.
- Don’t buy extra bells and whistles if you won’t need them.
- Don’t buy an extended warranty if it almost costs as much as the camera. It is rare that with careful use a camera breaks within the warranty time.
- Be careful about price shopping too much. If you choose the store in person or online with the lowest price, you may be sacrificing a good return policy, or even the chance that they sell you a refurbished or returned item.
